Description
Picturesque hollow roads, vast fields, centuries-old farms and forests alternate during this hike. Schavaai is dialect for branch forest and also the name of the spur of the mighty Meerdaal forest that reaches up to here. At node 72 you reach the shelter at "De Moemedel", the highest point in the Meerdaal forest.

Saturday, October 1, 2022 by Yasmin VdCFine, quiet walk. Pieces are often straight on straight, but in varying nature so it's never really boring. TIP: Appropriate footwear is necessary (mud in rainy weather!) & Best times are morning or late afternoon (can be quite crowded otherwise). Recommended for people and animals.

Tuesday, January 19, 2021 by herman verheirstraetenRough weather today, but it has something to it. Lots of wind, some rain and muddy and puddles in quite a few places. But definitely doable. Very nice through field and forest. Particularly recommended.

Friday, November 6, 2020 by N.T.We parked at the Town Hall/De Borre because it's hard to park your car in the Dorpsstraat. From there we followed the trail in reverse order up to node 77 where you turn left towards node 7 (apparently there are two choices) and end up at De Borre again. Beautiful walk through fields and forests as described by others!

Saturday, October 31, 2020 by Luc WullaertBeautiful and pleasant walk. Hollow roads, old cobblestones, field and forest . Varied and fun. Apparently some sections very popular ..... seemed more like a procession at times. Quite a few mountain bikers

Sunday, October 4, 2020 by Guy Van dammeRolling countryside, fields, forests, picturesque hollow roads (Chapel of St. Bernard), the Bordingenhof ( first mentioned in 1389 ).... all this makes for a hiking trail that never gets boring. At the end of the hike it's time to relax in Eet-Staminée In De Molen, Bierbeek. This hike is highly recommended with a 9,5/10.

Tuesday, July 21, 2020 by Marleen WillemsBeautiful hike in summer temperatures. You can find plenty of coolness in the woods from the start. You are surrounded by silence and the lapping of water. You have highs and lows in the deep hollow trails. Beautiful vistas across the fields. As you pass through on the majestic avenue in the Meerdaal Forest, you can adequately oxygenate your lungs. Magnificent those meter-high trees. One more stop at the café at the end and then a fresh Westmalle. Blessed!

Tuesday, September 3, 2019 by Noël Beelen01/09/2019: Nice walk with lots of variety from forest to ordinary field roads and hollow ways. And especially little walking on the street. I did the hike in reverse, then you immediately have the street part behind you :-)
