Description
Stroll along the winding streets of Zemst-Laar and meet characters such as witches, ghosts and the mysterious "Kleudde. A fictional figure from Flemish folklore that lives here in the marshes, woods and heathland. In the Middle Ages, leurders earned a little extra money by telling ghost stories, legends and sagas. So the woods and moors of Laar were the ideal places to immerse yourself in those stories and fantasies. You walk past a mysterious stone. A Celtic sacrificial stone? A frontier stone? We don't know what the curious stone, excavated in 1930, served for. Either way, the locals thought the "Half Stone" was interesting enough to place it on a pedestal.

Saturday, January 15, 2022 by Frank SmetsNice walk, mostly on asphalt but the roads are very quiet and you almost always look out over open plains with meadows and fields. The few unpaved sections were a bit slippery though so after rain it is best to wear shoes with some tread.
