We did this walk on 01/08/2025.

For this walk, we used the GR5 and a route of approximately 3 km through Zelem to complete the loop. We walked the route counterclockwise, which allowed us to cover the largest paved section first.

Once on the GR5 (red and white markers), we walked on unpaved forest and meadow paths. The GR5 also passes through the nature reserve De Schurfert - Lange Beemden. Unfortunately, we had to turn back at the bridge at the Zwarte Beek due to flooding. There was no way through.

The route published here is as we walked it, about 600 m along the relatively busy Meldertsestraat. In drier weather, it is best to continue following the GR5 through the natural area.
