Description
Depart at the cultural center of Asse housed on the protected site of the Oud Gasthuis, the former Onze-Lieve-Vrouwgasthuis. The walk takes you past Waalborrep Park with exceptional trees, Petrus Ascanus Chapel from 1891 and an artistic hop field. The hop field was created in 2010 as an ode and reminder of the glory years of hop growing, special is the artwork of Peter Schoutsen. The many terraces on Asse's market square look enticing under the watchful eye of the Hopduvel. The bronze statue symbolizes the storm wind that raged over the fields at the end of August and damaged the hop vines.
This walk is offered by Tourism Flemish Brabant.

Tuesday, February 28, 2023 by W.L.Wonderful hike. Enormously varied. Beautiful horizons, pleasant residential areas, a beautiful city park.

Sunday, May 30, 2021 by Hilde VdVVaried tour with extremes such as high/low (we didn't expect), open (fields) / closed (village center), silence (forests) / noise (train, traffic), agriculture / industry. At one point we imagined ourselves all alone in the Ardennes, and a little later we were sitting among the people 'coronaproof' on a terrace. Also nice was the piece of the park.
