Icon description route Description

The village of Wezemaal, like this hike, is all about viticulture. On the southern flanks of the Wijngaardberg, it is teeming with vines protected by the ironstone wine wall. Pubs serve the local pride, and on the last Saturday in August the whole village celebrates during the Wezemaal wine festival. In the visitor center of the Hageland wine, you will learn all about this fresh spirit of the gods.

This walk is offered by Tourism Flemish Brabant.

Tuesday, October 31, 2023 by P.P.Perhaps the most beautiful hike in the region. Lots of variety, nice climbing strips, panoramic views, really beautiful in autumn but certainly also during the blossoms. The hike is fairly short but can be combined with other trails, e.g. in Gelrode. Highly recommended.

Sunday, September 26, 2021 by R.V.I have rarely been on such a beautiful hike ! Varied through woods, apple and pear orchards and open meadows. The vineyards come at the end . Beautiful views . Fun on a nice autumn day . Also go to the Visitor Center Hageland wine (from 2 hours). Nice movie , wine tasting and explanations from nice volunteers .

Sunday, June 6, 2021 by S.W.Nice walk, beautiful views. Mostly apple trees to admire, but you also walk through the forest. Hilly, at times very spicy. Highly recommended!

Thursday, April 8, 2021 by herman verheirstraetenOn the vineyard mountain there are mostly apple trees! But no complaints, it is a beautiful hike, alternating between orchards and forests. Spicy though, with sometimes steep climb. Very well marked, but we walked from point 64 to 71 (and admired the mill!) and then to 74 to reconnect.

Thursday, February 25, 2021 by F.V.Particularly beautiful hike, aanbenmende views, but at times a real biter of calves. This hike proves that hiking can sometimes be called (top) sport. Also pleasant with the many seats along the way so you can rest, picnic.

Sunday, November 29, 2020 by M.V.With some sunshine, this is a beautiful hike with fantastic fall colors. It does take some climbing now and then, but that's what you have with a "mountain. When it has rained recently, there is mud here and there, so be especially careful not to slip when descending! Busy on weekends: lots of dogs, cyclists, runners, and other hikers.

Thursday, May 28, 2020 by Sonja VanderstappenDon't expect vineyards on this hike, because they really are in the minority. What you do expect : lots of fruit trees (beautiful) and forests. Nice varied hike, some parts do require some stamina, good shoes definitely important, worn out paths and stairs. To be honest, I expected more. Inhabited world is never far away, noise highway and houses in sight. There are more beautiful walks in our Flemish country.

Monday, May 25, 2020 by Sandy SeghersHow much we (mom, Emiel 6yrs and Juul 4yrs) enjoyed this M E G A beautiful walk.
First of all the impressive Sacred Heart statue ... the boys were amazed ... And we had to go back at the end! :)
It is occasionally watch out for the racing MTB-ers, often you can hear them coming well, so good listening is the message!

We are experienced hikers and already did quite a few of them, but this was definitely the MOST and we will definitely do it again several times.

We did this hiking route in reverse today. We leave the village and via a steep climb we arrive at the friendly Sacred Heart statue that welcomes us into the woods with open arms. Autumn is already squeaking in a little and here you can already see beautiful hues of leaves on the trees. Sturdy shoes that can get dirty is definitely needed. The hiking trail is also used by agricultural vehicles that make deep tracks in the here and there blubbery ground. We also see signs of the MTB trail, so watch out for these two-wheeled vehicles. It keeps going up and down until we reach the top of the ridge and the forests give way to fruit orchards. Here and there thick apples still hang from the bushes. From one fruit field we pass into another and finally we see the rust-brown ironstone wine wall. Steadily we descend among the vines and here too thick bunches still hang waiting to be harvested. We see the church as the aiming point and also the end point of this beautiful hike ! But we still stop by the Hageland Wine Visitors Center and immediately get a glass pushed into our hands. PROOST !!! Reinhilde & Peter
