Historically, Erps-Kwerps consists of two separate nuclei. Kwerps lies just east of Erps. The hike starts at the church of Erps. The original Sint-Amandus church burned down in 1706 due to a lightning strike. In the mid-19th century, the new neo-Gothic church was completed. Notable in the church are the two paintings by Aarschot painter P.J. Verhaegen: St. Barbara and St. Donatus. During your walk, airplanes thunder above your head. Pretty impressive when one of those hundred-ton planes whizzes right above your head.
