Description
The moat that once should have stopped German tanks is now full of aquatic life. The abandoned bunkers are the permanent wintering place of big-eared bats. The Antitank ditch and adjacent Haachts Broek is a beautiful hiking area with bridges and boardwalks. You still have the feeling here that you can get hopelessly lost. Here and there you come across a herd of large grazers that provide open spaces, sought after by butterflies and other insects.
High bootsare necessary in Haachts Broek.
This walk is offered by Tourism Flemish Brabant.

Monday, February 26, 2024 by P.D.Please note that this route is currently - Feb. 24, 2024 - virtually inaccessible in several places due to multiple floods. Some places are doable with rubber boots but only other places you can't get through even with boots.

Sunday, July 3, 2022 by Yasmin VdCFine walk! Didn't feel like walking through Haacht center with my dogs so made the loop back. Antitank canal has 2 sides so you don't technically repeat with that. Well marked! Wet surface in several places, good shoes required! Enjoy

Sunday, January 23, 2022 by herman verheirstraetenLovely walk, started at Wespelaar station. It's booked as muddy but it wasn't all that bad. Boots are really not necessary, walking shoes (bottoms) are. The footbridges are in very good condition, everything is well marked.

Wednesday, August 25, 2021 by K.S.Very nice hike, very varied, well marked. High walking shoes are necessary BUT: watch out for the mosquitoes!!! Make sure you are well anointed beforehand. We were attacked and overbitten by these critters; it was a continuous fight to beat them away; so bad that afterwards we had to go to the pharmacy.

Friday, November 20, 2020 by Eva MaesVery varied and adventurous hike. At times very muddy, so appropriate footwear is recommended. In corona times it was VERY crowded, so sometimes you had the feeling you were walking with a lot of people at the same time.

Sunday, November 15, 2020 by T.D.very nice hike with many forest roads, field roads and a little paved roads. definitely worth repeating and even recommended, especially if you like forest roads and bridges. only downside, if it is rainy or has rained large parts of the trail are quite muddy

Saturday, November 7, 2020 by Gilbert HofmansVery nice walk through varied nature. Part of history with the anti-tank ditch and explanation along path sports complex Wespelaar is nice. Walking shoes recommended for slightly boggy / slippery passages. Tip: this hike can also be started from the large parking lot located in Haacht center at the Lombaardenlaan.

Saturday, October 17, 2020 by Peter WilsNice varied hike, mostly through nature and just in time through a center where you can make restaurant stops. Plank trail is in need of repair at km 3. Along the way there is plenty to see so it always remains fascinating. Beautiful region! Beautiful nature. Take some bread with you for the sheep :-). Recommended!

Sunday, August 2, 2020 by Tom SmetsGreat parking, nice start In the green followed by a unique route along the anti-tank canal, but unfortunately not a real nature walk to deconnect for a while, because between km 7.5 and 10 you walk through the village center and between the houses.

Monday, June 22, 2020 by Ellen Van PraetWe give this route an 8 out of 10. It is a very varied hike through forests, along beautiful and well-signposted paths with a war history marked by bunkers, moats and lots of greenery. We found it a bit unfortunate that our beautiful walk went right through the not so pretty village along ribbon development. It somewhat detracted from all the beauty we saw. But all in all, this is highly recommended.

Monday, March 2, 2020 by W.B.Beautiful nature hike with lots of variety but not if it rained a lot. It is sometimes slogging through the mud. More boardwalks is an option.
