Icon description route Description

Start at Affligem Abbey for a walk through the Koudenbergbeek Valley, a municipal nature development area where nature is given every opportunity. Thanks to the varied soil - dry and wet, sandy loam and clay - you will find a very rare piece of nature in a historically special place. The name 'Robber Baron Walk' refers to the legend of the foundation of Affligem's St. Peter and Paul Abbey. The story goes that monk Wedericus of St. Peter's Abbey in Ghent converted six robber knights who settled in Affligem in 1062.

Choose sturdy walking shoes or boots, because it can get quite muddy. This hike is offered by Tourism Flemish Brabant and Regional Landscape Pajottenland and Zennevallei.

Tuesday, January 19, 2021 by Erna De RoockDid a hike yesterday. Maybe beautiful in summer but at this time it is mostly slogging in the mud so the beauty passes you by. High boots are the only appropriate footwear.

Thursday, July 30, 2020 by Ive MissoortenBeautiful hike and adventurous trails ... really something for young children. Only there is 1 piece very difficult to pass through because of plants neighbors ... otherwise doable and plenty of shade during peak sun ....

Sunday, June 21, 2020 by Jean-Pierre Van SnickVery nice Walk done but with the nodes:1-18-17-12-11-10-18-1
At junction 12 we added the loop from
nature point at the hermitage chapel.
The walk is about 8 km.
The loop is definitely recommended, pure nature.

Nodes on website itself are not correct.

Sunday, February 17, 2019 by Berdien Van Den AbeeleWonderful hike, also suitable for young children.
Attractive with alternation between field and forest.
For the kids: nice walking path through the forest and many horses along the walk.

Sunday, January 20, 2019 by Poppeia Poppeia en coBeautiful winter hike in the meadows around Affligem Abbey. The trail is nicely interspersed with wooden walkways, steps and bridges in the marshy areas. Lots of explanations about the nature reserve on signs along the route. Excellent signage.
