Icon description route Description

This beautiful hike starts at youth house De Faar in Meerhout. Along quiet forest roads you will explore this peaceful, green area. This hike is perfect for escaping the daily rat race of life. After you can take a break in the Luihoeve, you pass the 'cross of the Hutten'. According to a legend, this cross recalls an evil knight. During a thunderstorm in the Middle Ages, he lost his way and ended up at this crossroads again and again. After he went mad with rage and cursed everyone, including God, he and his horse were swallowed by the earth. This route crosses a dune-like area, peculiar to this region. Many of these 'land dunes' are European protected because they are home to a specific world of plants and animals. In memoriam Dirk Oeyen (Meerhout).

Sunday, June 27, 2021 by Karin van de VenA nicely varied hike with a cup of coffee at the tavern along the way. Note there is a mistake in the numbering; indicated 83-87-88-10-11 should be 83-87-10-88-11 . So the 88 and 10 are reversed!

Monday, January 18, 2021 by G.H.I did the hike yesterday (17/01), the day after some snow had fallen. Good waterproof hiking boots are recommended if it is a bit wet. What I liked about this hike was that there were a lot of dirt roads in between. Along the way you can get a take-away coffee. At the parking lot (start) the WE also has a take away stall.

Sunday, November 8, 2020 by M.P.Hike was ok but had expected more variety, especially since there are more interesting trails in this region anyway.

Sunday, May 10, 2020 by Roel Sleebuss - BaudoinVery nice and peaceful hike. Started at 83 then made the tour via 87 and 88.
Luihoeve closed by Corona moon after sign 90 went wrong. The turnoff to 87 was not indicated to leave the road to Meerhout. Then back and we saw the indication when you walk in reverse from 87 to 90 but no pole. A little further from 87 to 83 is also searching.
But still very beautiful!

Monday, February 10, 2020 by Hans DergentCool and especially relaxing hike. Beautiful surroundings, despite not living very far from here, I was very pleasantly surprised and so was my dog.
Highly recommended and definitely worth repeating.

Friday, February 7, 2020 by Herman Van den ReeckIs indeed a beautiful hike. I followed Bie Kennis's tip and did the hike in reverse. This is indeed more convenient for a sanitary and drink stop. Disadvantage is that the hike then starts along a busy road. After that, however, it is super quiet from traffic.

Tuesday, January 28, 2020 by Jan Boonenalong field and meadow,
through woods and heather.
I think it's a beautiful path
and doable
with an ordinary walking boot,
even if it's wet.
but is the summer hot,
I think you eat sand

Tuesday, January 21, 2020 by Henri SwinnenQuiet and well-marked hike. We did this hike on a foggy day and then the landscape did remain very gray and dull. Do they still sometimes do on an open day.

Sunday, January 19, 2020 by Maas JanTo be honest, the route was a bit disappointing for us, we did not find the landscape to be special. We have done nicer hikes in this area.

Sunday, January 19, 2020 by bie kennisIndeed very beautiful, varied and quiet (although there were many hikers, passed several hikers doing the same junction walk) walk. Tip: the other way around you get to the Luihoeve at about 3/4 of the tour. With children that may be better.
Greetings, I will definitely do more of these hikes! Bie
