Icon description route Description

We did this nature walk on 12/18/2024.

It starts at the Wamp and goes through the nature reserve Het Goorken and Rode Del. The name Goorken is derived from 'goor', which means swamp. Together with the Rode Del and the Reusels Moer, it was part of a large, cross-border peatland area in the Middle Ages.

Due to the construction of the Dessel-Schoten canal, the Goorken became separated from the other areas. In this marshy area, you can see bogs, heathlands, reed lands, open water, and willow and bog myrtle shrubs. The ideal place to enjoy the tranquility as a hiker and to spot birds.
