Description
Beautiful nature walk that takes place over more than 90% unpaved roads. One follows the Grote Nete for a while and passes the Monnikenhoeve and the watermill of Meerhout.
A nice anecdote about the watermill: The year 1678 is displayed above the entrance of the watermill, indicated by wall anchors. In the past, the mill had two wheels, which could be used to grind both oak bark and grain. Shortly after World War I, the mill even produced electricity. In the evening, when the miller brought the wheel to a stop, he informed his fellow villagers by briefly interrupting the electricity. This earned him the nickname Peer Plimp.
