Description

This nature walk starts on the Postelscheheideweg near the eatery "De Koperen Teut" and goes through the Stevensbergen.

The Stevensbergen, a modest nature reserve of 24 hectares near Luyksgestel in the province of North Brabant, is nestled between the municipal forests of Luyksgestel (now Bergeijk) and consists of a former heathland with some remnants of shifting sands.

Although the area claims to have the highest point in North Brabant at 43.7 meters, it is still 30 centimeters short. The relief is due to the shifting sands, and the relative height compared to the rest of North Brabant is due to a gradual rise of the terrain towards the Kempen Plateau, which lies many kilometers further.

The Stevensbergen is known as an area rich in reptiles, with species such as the smooth snake and the viviparous lizard, and the nightjar is also observed here.
