Icon description route Description

Park your car for free on the Heistse berg near the water tower: Kerkhofstraat 4.

Start in the middle of the wooded highest point of Heist, at 46 m. If you want to go even higher, visit the water/viewing tower for a very modest price (lift or stairs) and enjoy beautiful views.

Through the forest and past the O.-L.-V. grotto, you descend via partly unpaved paths towards the Grote Nete valley. You almost immediately reach Pinzieleke: a nature reserve where a ferry used to run (and might again in the future?) and many young Heist residents learned to swim.

Through the beautiful but damp Tittebeemden towards Hallaar, quiet roads and stairs then lead you past the Sint-Lambertus Institute to the Heist church square with its beautiful buildings, pump, pillory, ... Via Park op den Berg, the former site of the Sacred Heart College, you return to the parking area. Wine bistro Calle Gato offers an ideal place for a closing drink or snack.

Dogs are welcome everywhere on a leash. (High) hiking boots are necessary.
