This region is known among other things for the cheese and authentic traditional clothing. Driving from Edam to Volendam, you pass along the waterfront. At the end of the bike ride which is about 30 km long, you ride from Volendam to Edam along a busier road through the center of the "new" Volendam.

In the old district near the Gauwzee, it is very touristy. There, you can find several photographers where you can have your picture taken in the authentic Volendam traditional clothing.
